  This ensemble drama set in New York City begins with a philosophy professor (Sam Waterston) getting stabbed while he's trying to buy flowers for his wife (Glenn Close). Elsewhere, his daughter-in-law (Jessica Hecht) battles cancer, a student of his (Kristen Stewart) has self-harm issues, a junkie (K.
