Starring Chris Makepeace, Yuji Okumoto

It's the 60s and a bunch of crazy teenagers meet in the beautiful island of Hawaii during their summer holidays. Although they come from different backgrounds, they hang out together and shake up the island! They surf, dance, drink, fight and fall in love. As the summer approaches its end, they find themselves inseparable, friends for a lifetime...
Director: Tommy Lee Wallace
Writers: Mike Greco (story), Mike Greco (screenplay)

Stars: Chris Makepeace, Yuji Okumoto, Don Michael Paul, Tia Carrere

The film will surprise viewers with its depth and themes, which include racism.
The story's focus is on Chris Makepeace, an Italian-American lad who learns by means both soft and hard how to get along with, and understand, those different from himself.
A few Kung-Fu scenes are thrown in whenever the action threatens to flag. There is a surprisingly good performance from Shô Kosugi, known from many of the martial arts inspired Ninja films of the 80s. He was the All Japan Karate Champion at age 18 and won the LA Open in 72, 73 and 74.
Director Tommy Lee Wallace won accolades for special effects for the film The Fog (1980) and for writing El Diablo (1990) with John Carpenter.
Chris Makepeace was nominated for a Genie in 1980 for his performance in Meatballs.
Don Michael Paul is better known as a screenwriter for his scripts for Harley Davidson & The Marlboro Man, Public Enemies, Night of the Hunter and Nathan's Run.
