Rocambole (1963)
Posted by Laurence Parsons on Jun 21st 2016
This colour film presents American magician/actor Channing Pollock as the charming adventurer Rocambole in a 19th century French setting where intrigue, jewelry theft and romance converge. With wit, wits and punches, Rocambole evades adversaries from both sides of the law until, by story's end, the culprits are arrested, the stolen jewels are returned and Rocambole is with a beautiful woman who is almost as good-looking as Channing Pollock was. Richly costumed, this production is mainly for those speaking French, for it does not have English subtitles.
