Beloved Infidel (1959)

By 1959, Deborah Kerr was right in her prime, both as an actress and a really beautiful woman and I would vote this as one of her best performances.
How sad then that Gregory Peck was absolutely wrong as the mercurial Fitzgerald, a role that would have made more sense in the hands of Glenn Ford
or Robert Mitchum, two actors capable of playing good guys or men of dubious
character.Peck was fine within his range but always presented as a gentleman and struggled in losing favour with the audience in his downhill slide.
Good production values and Kerr’s breath-taking beauty make this film worth
a single viewing at least.
