  1. Jane Powell's movie debut 5 Star Review

Posted by on Nov 15th 2023

It's clear from this film why Jane Powell, in her film debut, became a Hollywood star for about 14 years. In this film, she plays a teenaged star named,
Jane Powell(!!) - she took her film name from this film - who grows tired of being a movie star, and runs away to join a group of young fruit/vegetable pickers, and assumes an alias, (with her hair cut, and dyed brown) of course. This film has an absolutely wonderful score, including the Oscar-nominated,
"Too Much In Love". The swan song of W.C. Fields; also with Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy. Catch this one!!!!

  2. Jane Powell’s amazing debut 4 Star Review

Posted by on Oct 27th 2022

Jane Powell’s first musical(1944,15 years old)is astonishing. Later on, MGM’s top singing star, but this movie has a charm of it’s own. The same charisma, beauty and of course: the same fantastic voice!! The movie is a bit about herself, actually, and she did get her artist name, Jane Powell, here. Wonderful music scores and plenty of typical Janie humor: -this movie is a must, if you are a fan of one of the worlds greatest sopranos.
    Enjoy!
