The Long Night, an American film noir that is a remake of a 1939 French film, Le jour se lève. The film stars Henry Fonda as Joe Adams, who at the beginning of the film not only had just shot a man to death but is shooting through his apartment door at the police called in response to the homicide. The majority of the film is a series of flashbacks, of how Joe ended up shooting the man, a man named Maximillian (played by Vincent Price), with the other main star being his love interest Jo Ann (Barbara Bel Geddes). Jo Ann’s story is closely tied in with both Joe and Maxmillian and also a factor in the present as she tries to prevent the police from storming Joe’s apartment and killing him.
