Product Description

Brushing Time Away (1995)

In the sweltering heat of August 1983, a prairie fire raged in Southeastern Montana, consuming nearly 600 acres.  The dense grass and vegetation was stripped from the site where the Battle of the Little Bighorn was fought 107 years earlier.

The barren ground revealed secrets that lay hidden through the decades.  Beneath the charred earth there was physical evidence of what led to the defeat of the 7th US Cavalry on June 25, 1876.

With the blanket of grass and sagebrush now removed, this century's pioneers began their scientific research into the past.  The studies were led by Douglas Scott, Supervisory Archeologist from the National Park Service Midwest Archeological Center in Lincoln, Nebraska and Richard Fox, an archeologist and Professor of Anthropology from the University of South Dakota, wth the aid of firearms specialist Dick Harmon and an army of volunteers from around the world.

Brushing Time Away tells the story of the archeological studies since 1983, and how the interpretation of the battle has changed, proving many Native American oral histories to be true.
