Julie Andrews gives the best film musical performance of her incredible career. In the late 1960's movie musicals were falling out of favor with audiences. This one, and too many others, got lost in the era which eclipsed joyful and exuberant entertainment with more risqué and avant-garde works. And of course, if anyone wanted to see Ms. Andrews in fine form, Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music were still playing in theaters. Sadly, the story ends before Gertrude Lawrence's triumphant success on Broadway in The King and I. That would have been a great addition to this film. However, Julie Andrews shines bright in Star and for those who love her work, great songs, incredible dancing and gorgeous costumes, and want to see Daniel Massey completely embody Noel Coward, Star is heavenly.
