Rosalind Russell in a musical!
Cashing in on her success on Broadway in "Wonderful Town", it was decided that Ms. Russell was a good enough singer and dancer to star in a Hollywood musical. While this film did not receive good reviews when it opened, it's actually much fun, with a plot that will keep you interested, a tuneful score by Martin and Blane, (who wrote the score for "Meet Me In St.Louis")and good supporting performances by Fernando Lamas, Eddie Albert, Gloria DeHaven, and Marion Lorne, all surrounding Ms. Russell, who give an indication in this film of what she would later accomplish when she played the role of "Mama Rose", in the film version of "Gypsy". This film is very entertaining, and the print is good.
