The Siege of Syracuse (1960)

Pietro Francisci

Pietro Francisci (story), Giorgio Graziosi (story)

Rossano Brazzi, Tina Louise, Sylva Koscina

ROSSANO BRAZZI, his voice bearing no resemblance to the dulcet accent that soothed feminine film-goers in "Summertime" and "South Pacific," plays a Brooklynese prince in this Italian import, "Siege of Syracuse."

His interest in sex runs second to his passion for science until he encounters a voluptuous dancer, emphatically pantomimed by Tina Louise. An evening's dalliance produces, in turn, a child, an attack of amnesia, a twenty-year separation and a climactic battle sequence in which the dauntless scientist employs a handful of mirrors to defeat the Roman navy.

The red-haired Miss Louise looks much more comfortable in her various stages of undress than Signor Brazzi does in his. As for the picture, it is not so good as "Head of a Tyrant" or "Revolt of the Slaves," but better than "The Three Stooges Meet Hercules."
