This musical, based on a Broadway show, was filmed in two-color technicolor. Set upon a golf course, it chronicles the attempts of a handsome golfer to teach a young woman how to play the game. This causes her gossipy rival to start a string of vicious rumors about the two. It seems that her rival is jealous of the golfer's attentions. Songs include: "A Peach of A Pair", "It Must Be You", "You Wouldn't Fool Me, Would You?", "Button Up Your Overcoat", "I Want to Be Bad" and "I'm Hard To Please".

  1. Classic technicolor early talkie 4 Star Review

    Faded color at the beginning of the film, but then, the color seems to get better. A musical about golf, believe it or not, with the hit tune "Button Up Your Overcoat". This is the film which made Jack Haley (The Tin Man in "The Wizard of Oz") a star. Also a chance to see
    Nancy Carrol, the first movie star created by the talkies, who had no background in silent films or in theatre (very interesting, as Ms. Carrol had a career as a movie star for 3 or 4 years, and after that, somehow was reduced to supporting parts.

    What a fun movie with good songs. Zelma O'Neil handles the comedy, and the song "Then I'll Have Time for You" was a pleasant surprise! So "Button Up Your Overcoat" and get ready for a good movie. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star rating is the print quality is not quite up to snuff. But you can still follow it quite easily.
