The Desert Song (1929)

based on the Broadway hit of the 1920's, this print is very poor. (As a matter of fact, footage of leading lady Carlotta King's first song, is missing, although the audio remains intact.) But this film is very much of historical importance, as an early representation of an early sound film. Included in this print is an "intermission", so be prepared for a long running film. Some scenes were to have been filmed in three strip technicolor, but that is not apparent in this negative. Many fine songs, lots of comedy, and a chance to see a young Myrna Loy, playing a villaness. Certainly a worthwhile film.
